Gold, Olive, Teal, Blue & Chartreuse Glitter Makeup look/Tutorial with Morgana Cryptoria

Since many of you seemed to like my tutorial, I did another for you today. Originally I wanted to do something that was more of a New Years Eve party look. But I've had this look in my head for a while and wanted to get it out!

Green, Brown and Plum Makeup look with Cool Shimmer 88 Palette

This is the first look I have done with this palette and I'm already totally in love with it. I didn't realize until today that it has a few duo-chrome shades that are so gorgeous! So while my intention was to create a gold and purple look, this browny/purply colour with green highlight (it's number 32 on the colour chart I made) caught my eye. So much so that I forgot my normal application routine and just started putting it on my lid...then realized I didn't put the highlight under my brow first. Oops!

Here's the look. It's more simple than I normally prefer, but it is much more pretty in person.  Looks similar to the look I wore on Christmas Eve. But it's not the same.
Yes, I'm a dork and wear clothes with my name on them. :-) The shirt is Emily Strange BTW.

Smokey Ruby Red & Black Makeup look/Tutorial with MAC

This is my first picture tutorial that I have done for my blog. I have done these before but only for clients (I don't post their looks/tutorials on my blog since they paid for them) and they said they like this format, so I hope it works for you. I personally don't care for video tutorials because I don't have a lot of time to watch them. I like the picture tutorials better because I can view where a certain colour/product is placed and I can figure out the rest on my own. I know many of you feel the same.

If I get enough positive feedback, I will do tutorials more often. Constructive criticism is welcome! There are a lot of pictures so beware!
My "oh dear I have a headache but must look gorgeous for the camera!" look. :-P

Been getting requests for side profile pictures so here you go.

Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel as Makeup/Eyeshadow Primer Review

Yep! I'm sure many of you have heard of this...many of you haven't. This is the Product:

No, this isn't used to treat yeast infections and has nothing to do with hoohah infections in any form (hee hee!). It's just chafing gel and has the same exact active ingredient used in eye primers. That ingredient is Dimethicone.
Many women have been using this product as a face primer and/or an eyeshadow primer and swear by it.
I decided to give it a try and bought a tube from drugstore.com. You can read the reviews on that website and see that some are for using it as a makeup primer. :-)
I don't need a face primer so I used this product as an eye primer no different than I would apply my Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
The gel is colourless (mostly clear, semi opaque) and odorless. The texture is very smooth and silky. It's not greasy at all and it rubs down to a soft, almost velvety, feel. I really love the way it feels.
I used it for a few days by itself (you only need a tiny bit, if you use too much it can become cakey and bead up, a little goes a long way) as well as tried it on one eye with the other eye using the TFSI so I could compare the two. While they both kept my makeup from creasing about the same, I immediately noticed a difference in how much better my eyeshadow applied and blended.
I am in love with this Chafing Gel! Seriously, I like it better than Too Faced Shadow Insurance! My eyeshadow glides on like butter, blends like a dream and it doesn't crease! I still use my Detrivore Eye primer and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy on top for extra POP and it actually helps them both blend more evenly too. I let the chafing gel set for about 30 seconds before applying my other primers on top.

Why I love this Chafing Gel and recommend you try it:

  • Works better (for me) than Too Faced Shadow Insurance (can't say for UDPP because I have never tried it)
  • Huge 1.5 ounce tube (if used as just an eye primer, will last you FOREVER!)
  • Costs about $6-$8
  • Has only 5 ingredients which is way less than Too Faced Shadow Insurance and Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Has no parabens unlike UDPP (which is why I never tried UDPP)

I'd say the only negative thing is that the brand is Monistat. I don't care about that, but I know some people will. You shouldn't let that scare you away from trying it. Just remember that even though it is made by Monistat, it has nothing to do with yeast infections or the private area. It's just a basic gel to help with chafing (which can happen anywhere on the body). You can always buy a tube and transfer it into a jar so you don't have the issue of the label that may be considered embarrassing to some.

Christmas Goodies/Swatches

Apparently some of my friends still think I don't have enough makeup because I got 3 palettes for Christmas.
I just put lotion on my hands before handling these so those are my greasy finger prints. :-D

The first one is the 36 Smokey Palette from Coastal Scents:

taken in natural light

Then there's the Tropical 88 Shimmer Palette from BH Cosmetics:

I think I like this one the most, which is the Cool Shimmer Palette from BH Cosmetics:

All swatches were done over Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel.

Athan claiming Jason's head as a pillow. This was taken Christmas morning. How cute!

My Christmas Eve Makeup look with Morgana Cryptoria

I wore this look for some last minute shopping. Nothing too hectic as I got 90% of shopping done well before December because I HATE shopping around the Holidays and dealing with rushing, insanely stressed people. *shudders*

Taken in natural light. This is more true to colour than my pics with flash. You can actually see my real eye colour, which is hazel, and they change colour depending on what I'm wearing and the surroundings. Also, this is my pale skin tone. I'm not able to get many natural light photos at this time of year because it gets dark at 4:30 pm here.
